What is the max tire width for E34? (TireRack?) (archive)

I've got a line on a set of (4) 17X8 ET20 OEM BMW rims off an E39. The question that I have is the max width tire possible for this application. I know that 235/45-17 is one width that should fit, but will 245/45-17 work all around? TIA
