Why does he have to go with atouring tire? there are compromises....he can get a performance or semi-performance tire..something not for tracking only and not for touring only..

Because I dont need performance! Its a daily driver! I need something that will last and handle the streets! Im not worried about racing, track times, cornering at 75mph etc. So I dont need a $250+ tire that will last for 10k miles and not be used for what they were designed for at all!

Im willing to bet that 85-90% of the people that buy those type of tires are only buying them for of the name and the hype, rather than what they are designed to be used for!

So what you consider "bassackwards" or being cheap, is more like smart shopping! Im going to buy based upon needs, not name and hype!
