Balance + Rotate = Wobble! (archive)

I have about 6,000 miles on some Dunlop SP5000 tires bought from TireRack (great tires, thanks guys). When I first had them installed, they were great - smooth and relatively wobble-free.

Last week I had them balanced and rotated - big mistake - lots of wobble. What happened? Well, I do have two rims that are slightly beat up which I try to keep on the rear.

Also, I checked the tire pressure and found the pressure to be about 45 pounds!!! Why would they inflate them so high to balance the wheel?

Two questions: (1) What should be proper pressure on Dunlop SP5000 (205/65/r15) running on a e34 525iM?

(2) Why is it necessary to inflate the tires to 45 lbs. to balance them?

(3) If they are running wobble-free, should I take the risk of re-balancing and rotating them again?

Thanks!
