In Reply to: does tirerack sell wheel spacers for e46? (more) posted by abj on July 23, 2000 at 21:55:41:

1. Throws off the dynamic of the factory suspension settings, resulting in decreased performance, increased wear on components, rims, tires, etc.

2. It may rub.

3. It may make your rims more susceptible to road rash since they stick out more.

Sounds like a lot of downside just to get that "beefy" look. If you want a different look, why not get a new set of rims that are the proper offset for the car.

4. It looks like sh*t (subjective opinion).

I'm getting a set of the factory 17x8 sport wheels for the E46 and I like the "beefy" look of a 17x8.5" rim thats being sold by most tuners.

Can I put a spacer in to stick my 17x8 wheels out a little bit more? What are the adverse effects of doing this?

How much do these go for and are there different brands? I would like the best version if there is a difference. And if tirerack doesnt sell spacers, can you tell me what the effects of making my 17x8 wheels stick out a bit more is ?

thanks alot guys.
