Conflicting info on E46 Star Spokes HELP! (archive)

Do the new E46 star spokes fit an E36. My dealer told me no but someone else told me they do!
Also, I have a 96 318i and the manual says that for 225/50/16's I should have 45,46 offset.
Can I handle 47?
