Tire Rack what is the best 17 or 18 inch for 330i (archive)

I am waiting for a wk 30 330i the wheels on these I think are ugly. Which size is the best for all around handling and performance 17 or 18 inch and what tire size? Is the 18 and 19 inch craze just for looks or performance? This car is a daily driver but I like the looks of the 18's if they are suitable. Thanks
