A few weeks ago I bought a set of RE 910s on Borbet wheels for my 86
535i. Invoice #355313001. I was very happy with the looks, and I have
has RE910s before so I knew what to expect!

I've put about 2000 miles on, and noticed some vibration at speed. The
car is really smooth up to about 75mph. but at about 80 develops a
vibration which seems to be from the rear, but can be occasionally felt
a little in the steering. It seems to be worse on new asphalt than on
old, or cement. By the time you get to 85, it gets slightly better, but
never goes completely away.

The front end of the car is solid, and the rear end and driveshaft have
been recently replaced (within last 2 years).

Any ideas? It feels like one of the wheels is out of balance, but I
doubt that you would ship an out of balance wheel, right?

I have put about 2000 miles on the car since receiving the wheels and tires.

I also noticed while washing the wheels that there seem to be a lot of weights on the wheels. Both fronts have five 1/4 ounce weights all stuck together. On one of these wheels the weights are coming un-stuck, and I expect them to have fallen off by the time I return from the 1500 mile trip I am starting tomorrow.

I asked a friend who works for Firestone Racing about this and he thought that it was "too many weights" and that the tire should have been turned and remounted. He also was surprised that the weights were visible and not hidden behind the spokes of the wheel. But he also said that Tire Rack was a good dealer.....

I also called somebody at Tire Rack that he recommended and have yet to receive a return call. I also e-mailed Aaron privately 10 days ago and have yet to receive a response. I also e-mailed my sales rep, and he didn't respond either.

It seems that a lot of people are flaming Tire Rack on the board, and the reason that I sent Aaron the private e-mail was to avoid fanning the flames. But I have to say that I am disappointed that there seems to be little response to any problem that isn't publicly posted on the board....

Any ideas you have would be appreciated! Thanks,

Mike Levitt

Call your salesman or you can call customer service at 800-428-8355 ext 360 and we will pay to have the wheels rebalanced. If you can't get it done let me know. Some times the balance can be off or weights can fall off. It doesn't happen often but we will make it correct. Thank you Jim ext 364
