Wheels on a 2000 323i SP (archive)

I have a question regarding obtaining new wheels for my 2000 323i equipped with the sports package.
I'm looking at buying new BMW wheels for my car (I hate the V-spoke wheels that came with my car) and I'm looking at getting the Z-star rims with wheel size 7x16
for 225/50ZR16 tires. I noticed in BMW's rims catalog that they offer a chrome version of the Z-star rims but only for the E36 cars (mine is the E46 and doesn't come in chrome). What is stopping me from having the E36 chrome rims put on the E46? The E36 chrome rims have the same 7x16 wheel size and fit the same 225/50ZR16 tires. Is there anything that prevents me from putting the E36 chrome Z-star rims on my E46?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
