17" upgrade for '86 635csi (archive)

I am considering a 17" wheel/tire upgrade for my '86 635csi. I currently have the much-hated TRX 220-55-390's. I am considering two wheels, the BBS RX 17x8's or the ATP Type 5 17x7.5's. Your website gives the same recommeded tire size for both: 225-45-17. Is it possible to go with a wider tire on the BBS wheels w/o fender concerns (car is not lowered)? Also, can you get BMW emblems for the BBS wheels? Any experience with 17" wheels on a 6-series?
