will 245/40/17s fit on botbet type R 17" wheel? (m (archive)

i ordered these a few weeks ago and my stock tires on my M contours are still in great shape. can i put the rear tires that are 245/40/17 on the borbet type R or are the tires to big for the wheel? thanks,
