330xi can't mix F to R tire size.? ?(.m) (archive)

The xi could not use the E46 sport package tire and wheel setup because it has 2 different tire sizes and
not the exact rolling radius ?
Is it true that indentical tire and wheel diameter/width is essential so as not to damage the differentials of the AWD system ?
