Have the exact same car as you. Have BMW O.E. 16x7 wheels and Pilot Alpin. I chose the exact SP stock size - 225/50 16 because it fills the wheel well better and offers a little more wheel protection. In extreme conditions, the narrower 205 may work better, but I did more than fine this past winter on 225s.

Pilot Alpin is H rated and provides the least compromise from the summer tires, but my Maryland winters are relatively mild. I was able to go thru everything winter dealt me. No problem at the ski slopes either. Most Blizzaks are Q rated (not sure about MZ-01).


I just purchased 16 x 7 wheels from a Z3 to use with snow tires. With more ice than snow in Indianapolis, I am considering the Blizzak MZ-01 & Pilot Alpin, leaning towards the MZ-01. Would you recommend a 205, 215, or 225 tire?
