and they do great. Narrower tires are better for winter driving as they provide a smaller sliding surface. It also depends where you are and how much winter you really get. If it doesn't snow too much and doesn't get too icy, go with the 225/50/16 tires. I live in Alaska so obviously get some nasty conditions and use studded 15" winter tires.
