Is there any data that would demonstrate how much better a Hoosier slick should be than say, a Yoko A032R?
a Hoosier autox tire or a "slick" (non DOT)?
either Hoosier tire is a better competition tire than THAT Yok
It sure is convenient to drive to the event on the tires for the event. Would the Kumho Victoracer stand up to highway travel (125 miles round trip/event).
yes
This year I made it through a full season (12 events) on 6 yoko's, but I did slide around more than competitors with slicks.
LOL, as they say, "duh!"
There isn't any specific data but I have driven both and there is a substatial(sic) difference in the performance of the 2 tires.
understatement of the year, :-)
The Yoko's are the best for what you are describing, driving to the track and back. On the other hand if you are looking to win I don't think you will do it on the Yoko's.
unless it's pouring rain out or snowing *and* no one showed up :-)
The Kumhos are coming out with a new tire for next year that I think will be more comfortable on the street but quicker than the AO32R.
LOL, a good street tire is quicker than the A032R, especially the KD or even the Yok A520, I've driven all 3.
