Can you use two different tire brand? more.. (archive)

I plan replace my OEM tires with 255/35/18, 225/40/18 Kumho tires...225's are not available anytime soon...So i'm thinking, is it possible to have a different brand of tires on my 225's? Tirerack advise against it... am i gonna have problems? Anyone had the same problem before? I plan to get Yokohama (parada)if i get favorable advise..Thanks for any advice.
