I am running 235/45 on my 8" wheels, but I believe you can go as wide as 255. Just be carefull that the wider tires don't rub on the shock/suspension. If the 16X8 is the stock E38 7er wheel, I think the offset is 23mm, which will put the wheel a bit closer (about 0.5 inch) to the suspension than on the oem wheel.

I am running ContiSports on my E32 ('91 750il), and am very happy with them. I previously had Mich Pilot MXX3, which I liked even better, but they don't last very long on a car as heavy as the 7er. The Pilot sidewall had even less flex than the Conti, which made the handling even crisper. I wouldn't expect to get much over 10k miles on the Pilot Sports, though.

good luck,

I currently have 7.5"x15" wheels with 225/60-15". I would like to know the correct tire for 8"x16" wheels. This is for a 90' 735iL. I was hoping to fit some Mich. Pilot Sports on the 8x16 wheels but I'm not sure about the correct size.

Thanks,
Joel
