I started this morning with a flat tire (front/right), so I put on the unused spare and went searching for a shop to inspect and fix the flat. The first shop wouldn't touch a Z-rated tire. Bogus? The second shop would agree in principle to patch a Z-rated tire, but wouldn't touch mine because of the outside edge wear. (Of course, this clown checked the new spare and pronounced it just O.K.)
I know that I could spend the day going tire shop to tire shop, but I'd like some advice as to whether a tire ought to be replaced simply because there is more wear on one side than the other. The uneven wearing will certainly effect the lifetime of the tire since an outside edge wear bar will be exposed before the others.
Also, with tire roll, the insubstantial tread on the shoulder of tire will wear, but there aren't any wear bars there. How do you determine when that tread is worn out?
Thanks for your help.
