1988 635 Tires & Wheels (archive)

I have a 1988 L6 and want to upgrade the tires and wheels.

I would like to use 235/40/18 BBS RK.

I was told "I run 225/50ZR16 and I think that's the best size. If you run 18" wheels you will find the car tramlines and you'll need to replace the aging suspension bushings. If you fit larger diameter wheels you MIGHT need to roll the
front wheel arches. There is nothing to be gained by going above 225 except for fit and handling problems."

What's your opinion?

Also I have been told that 235/45/17's will work, so shouldn't 235/40/18's work?

Thanks Mike
