As far a driving the car temporarily, the diff between the 7.5 and 8.5 should not matter, but I would not use this mismatched wheel as a long-term replacement. The adhesion characteristics of the wheel/tire combo will be different with 2 diff width wheels, even if the same size tire is mounted on them. A 235 tire MAY fit on the 7.5" wheel, as the 235 typically is used on a 8" wheel. If you call the BMW dealer with your wheel part #, they can tell you the tire size fitment for certain. In the long run, IMHO you are asking for problems if you run mismatched wheel widths on the same axle. But until your new replacement 8.5" arrives, you should be ok. Just don't drive too aggressively, as the car may handle a bit different depending upon wich direction you are turning.txhedg

i have staggered wheels and recently was in an accidentthat destroyed one of my rear wheels. If BMW includes a ful size 17.7.5 spare, does that mean i can put it in the rear with a 17.8.5? The tire widths are different but, what if i got the same tire on it. SOme mechanics i talked to say it does not matter, some say it is not recommended. But why in the hell does bmw give you a 17x7.5 spare? PLease help me anyone, if i cant use it then im selling it. ANYONE INTERESTED IN a 17x7.5 or a 17.8.5 m3 wheel that is the 10 double spoke not the 95 bmw motorsport engraved one, please send me a message.
