i run 235's on my 17X8" rims, and they fit well. I think you can probably even go as wide as a 255 on an 8", depending on exactly what brand rim you are talking about.

Will 235-40R17 fit OK on 17x8 rims? or should I get 225-45R17 ?

If I go with 235's will te rim be more prone to bending because of the wider tire and lower profile? THANKS
