I was under the impression that a larger mm offset moved the wheel further inboard
on the car, not further outboard. Also, if the width of the wheel is different vs stock, it changes the impact of the offset, and therefore it depends whether the limiting space is between the wheel and the fender or the wheel and the shock/strut.

Maybe I'm wrong, but this math seemed to work when I was putting new wheels on mine.
