Hi, I (finally) got my 4.4 on Friday and I'm having a fun weekend up here in Summit County, Colorado. We're headed for the road over Shrime Pass, near Vail, this morning.

Can someone confirm that the transmission 'gear indicator' lamp (on the console next to the shift lever) is always "on"? For instance, the car is not running, but the lamp next to "P" stays on. The dealer said it's normal but I'm a little surprised that no one seems to have mentioned it on this board.

That light is the "awake" indicator. Your "Cabin" computer system (general module and all peripherial modules) stay in the awake state for 16 minutes after all activity ceases.

At that time the system goes to sleep and the communication polling across the busses is reduced to a minimum. The light goes out.

Also at that time all "consumer" electric circuits are shut off - like cabin lights if you have left them on.
Also, after that time some "current settings" (like rear defogger on) revert to "default settings" (defogger off).

System awakens as soon as you do something (open door, strike a button on the key, etc.)
