I need some advice on a few options:

* I would ultimately like to change the music without getting out of the car, so the glove-box changer works great for me, but I've heard BMW had some problems with it. Is it true? Am I better off with the one in the rear? Is there a way to install a non-BMW player/changer? I am in love with the new Sony player, but with the NAV system, there's nothing I can do - no more space in dash.
* I like darker trim, I think it offsets sand leather better, but I hear that it is so dark it seams nearly black and looks more like plastic than wood. Should I go for the light color trim? Dark looks great on all photos I've seen.
* Are Xenon lights and self-dimming mirrors really all worth the money?
* I am going for all packages, premium sound, Park Distance Control, auto, and NAV System on a 3.0i. Anything I forget that I really should know? Or something I got that is really not worth the money?
* Finishing touches like matts and so on: anybody bought any non-BMW ones? $130 seems a bit over the reasonable. Which ones to get and how much should I expect to pay? Same question for seat covers. I like the sheep-skin, but $495?!!!!

Many thanks!
P.S.: My last post is still unanswered. Anyone knows how to get the DME version and to ensure it's the latest? Thanks.

I had originally intended on getting the glovebox CD changer-the dealer suggested I go with the trunk cd changer d/t many problems they have had with the Nakamichi glove box changer.

Regarding the wood color; I had originally ordered light wood with sand interior (Black exterior) We have a 740iL with dark wood grey interior so I wanted something significantly different. When I went to pick up my X5, the dealer had made a mistake and the car had the dark wood with sand interior! I was very disappointed but decided that the color of the wood would not keep me from taking the car. Now in hindsight I am VERY happy with the dark wood it does not look black it is very different from the wood in the 740il it is a bit darker not quite as reddish dark brown more chocolate brown-its beautiful! ( you can still see the wood grain) A few days later I went to the dealer to purchase accessories and saw an X5 light wood sand interior and although it is very nice very different In my opinion the dark wood has a classier look to it. The light wood seems to have a more plastic feel to it. I think either way you can't go wrong

Yes the xenon lights are definitely worth the money!!!!!! If you have the extra cash then get self dimming- i didn't get it -didn't feel i needed it-i have it on the 740 and its nice but not absolutely necessary I don't mind flipping my rearview mirror up if I have to but the glare from the rear doesn't really bother me.
I debated on the Activity pkg and boy am I glad I got it. the car from the front definitely looks cooler with the spray nozzles. heated seats are a +

Good luck
