We bought the rear changer--it worked good in the last two BMW's and we didn't want to sacrifice 80% of the glove box. it's not too tought to get out of the car every 6 hours or so & change cd's, and the "random play" mode is nice.
We like contrast too, but on a larger scale, so the black of the dashboard contrasts with the grey leather, the grey leather and the topaz contrast, and the light wood holds it together. This aesthetic issue often brings out strong emotions, so...try & see both before your order.
We got all the packages except Sport--if you're geting a 3.0 you need to order the climate package to get the automatic climate control. Xenons are a definite, and the only regret is that I couldn't order sport seats as a standalone.
My dealer gives mats to all new car buyers, and sheepskin covers from Bavarian Auto (bavauto.com) are the next purchase for my 328is--no heated seats in it.
Hope this helps.

I need some advice on a few options:

* I would ultimately like to change the music without getting out of the car, so the glove-box changer works great for me, but I've heard BMW had some problems with it. Is it true? Am I better off with the one in the rear? Is there a way to install a non-BMW player/changer? I am in love with the new Sony player, but with the NAV system, there's nothing I can do - no more space in dash.
* I like darker trim, I think it offsets sand leather better, but I hear that it is so dark it seams nearly black and looks more like plastic than wood. Should I go for the light color trim? Dark looks great on all photos I've seen.
* Are Xenon lights and self-dimming mirrors really all worth the money?
* I am going for all packages, premium sound, Park Distance Control, auto, and NAV System on a 3.0i. Anything I forget that I really should know? Or something I got that is really not worth the money?
* Finishing touches like matts and so on: anybody bought any non-BMW ones? $130 seems a bit over the reasonable. Which ones to get and how much should I expect to pay? Same question for seat covers. I like the sheep-skin, but $495?!!!!

Many thanks!
P.S.: My last post is still unanswered. Anyone knows how to get the DME version and to ensure it's the latest? Thanks.
