Did anybody have "Speed Sensitive WEE" sound when listening to AM radio????

This problem is with '00 4.4 X5. This is a free service repair. Depending on the source of your problem, they may add a capacitor or replace you antenna as what they did for my X5

Charlie

When I was first taking a test ride in an X5 I heard the whine and a spark plug noise (growling/popping) also. I pointed it out to the salesman. I asked them to please check my car, when it comes in, for such noises and eliminate them as I'm an AM listener. (4.4 due second week october). How did they change your antenna Charlie? Did the replace the whole windshield?
Thanks,
Serge

Serge,

I did not ask if they change the windshield. It appears to be the original windshield. As far as I know, this problem is with the '00 X5 4.4 only. All '01 have the fix built in. There is also a service bulletin on this. Enjoy your new X5, I am sure you will not have this problem. The whine from the test drive may be due to an '00 X5 test vehicle.

Charlie

Thanks for the kind words, Charlie.
Serge

Mine is an '01 4.4 and it had the AM Whine problem. They changed out the capcitor. So far so good...
