X5 has a QUITER ride, SOFTER ride, and at speeds above 30mph - SMOOTHER ride than the Jeep. Jeep is made to go off-road(though it's "afraid" of water *chuckle*), sits higher, and has poorer suspension-to-body dampeners, which sports package with its "rough" ride, has self-leveling air springs. X5 with sports is safer, more fun to drive, and will on the average be a smoother performer(suspension-wise) than the Jeep. Not to mention that in a critical situation it WILL save your life.

The BMW has a more firm ride than the jeep without the sport package. If you don't like a very firm ride, I would not get the sport.

I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. I said that the X5 has a more firm ride than the jeep and if you add the sport package, the ride would be even more firm. I disagree with you about a smoother ride at 30 mph or 40 mph. It will out handle the jeep on city streets and corners true but not necessarly a smoother ride. Self leveling air springs is not to improve your ride but to level the vehicle under heavy rear loads. Is the X5 safer than the Jeep? Yes., More fun? Depends if you perfer real off roading or having an SAV/SUV that handles similar to some sedans.
