what are you driving actually?

Comparing an X5 with a typical SUV an X5 even without sp-pack. is a "sports-car".

Comparing an X5 with an M3 the X5 is a "brick".
With sportp. the X5 becomes sportier, but it gets a firm ride. For me, too firm. Are you going to drive your X5 off-road? Forget the sportsp. Are you only running highway or "good" streets? take the package.
