I just bought the Thule #754 rack and the Yakima "Space Cadet" box for my X5. I tried the Yakima "Double Cross" rack but wasn't happy with the way it fit onto the X5 rails; also the 'towers' and the crossbars are separate -- the Thule towers and crossbars stay together. I intend to leave the rack attached to the box and only install it/them when we go on long trips. The Yakima bars are noisy but the Thule bars make a *loud* whistle when there's nothing attached. It's caused by some ribs on the top of the rectangular bar. If you are just going to carry bikes on top I'd recommend putting tape on top of the rest of the bar. (Before I installed the box I tried some black electrical tape and it stopped the whistle.) Once the box was on the rack, the whistle went away.

REI carries both brands. Our local store was happy to let me try both with the box.
