Professional thieves will be able to disarm the alarm. Because of the coded driveaway protection, they will either tow or transport our BMW via flatbed truck. I don't think they can do much damage that way in a few hours. On the other hand, they probably have a local chop shop. Hopefully, we'll notice the theft and activate LoJack in time.

You can check their website (www.lojack.com) to see if your area is covered. LoJack has coverage in my area (SoCal) and some surrounding areas (Mexico, Arizona...Nevada is coming).

My '01 3.0 X5 Spt will be arriving this week! For the above reasons (and the obvious costs/frustration/time of waiting for a replacement vehicle), I'll be installing LoJack.

The standard cost is $595. They will come to your home or office to install the system. I'm investigating a local deal for $395. Email me if you're interested, I'll let you if I'm successful in getting this deal.
