The ding is about 28-28.5" up from the ground. Is there a possibility there's another point on the door that could've caused it? (did you open the door while measuring? Are there any protruding points at the height I listed?) By the way, I appreciate you going out of your way on such a nice Sunday afternoon!! (at least it's nice here in Boston.)

don't forget the front door height as compared to the rear door. With passnegers on that side of the vehicle or empty. If you have only been to the dealer when a car or truck was parked next to you, I would mention it to the dealer. Unfortunately, if it happened at the dealer, it most likely happened before the X5 was parked next to you.
