We had consistent problems with this on our X5 (every driver flashed us). Brought it to dealer and found that self-leveling mechanism was malfunctioning -- they replaced it and now we only get flashed every once in a while (usually on bumpy roads as others have mentioned).

The lights themselves are great! Although I don't like to bother other drivers, these things make an incredible difference and hopefully (as more cars have them) drivers will get used to them.

I am getting ready to place my X5 3.0 order. I can't decide if I should get the Xenon headlights. I have heard that they blind drivers coming toward you. I have also heard that the standard BMW lights are very bright and perfectly adequate. Has anyone who has an X5 had a problem with people flashing their brights back at you or getting angry. Any help with this question would be appreciated. :)
