Just leased a 3.0 - How did I do? (archive)

Yesterday I was driving by a BMW dealer which was on my way while on an errand. I wanted to take anther look at the X5 and had some time to kill. I knew it would be a year before my 528i expired, but I like to dream.

The salesman said that an ordered car had just arrived and the person's credit was not approved, so I could get it. Well, I didn't care, I just wanted to drive it. When I came back they told me they could get me out of my 528 lease with no loss or penalties. And offered me an excellent lease.

The X5 is Silver/Black with Xenon, Navigation, Premium, Climate, Activity, Premium Sound and pull out cargo thing. MSRP at $49,500. My drive off cost is going to be $2000 (which includes first month's lease payment, taxes, title, etc.) and the 3 year lease payment of $716 (including 5% sales tax.) 12,000 miles per year. I put a deposit on it and plan to pick it up Monday.

How does that sound? All of that with no waiting for delivery. Any comments or suggestions?

Also does the CD unit from my '99 528 business radio (I believe it is the Alpine changer) work with the X5 premium sound system? If so I will ask them to move it. Or else I will buy a unit at wholesale and keep using it on future BMWs.

Thanks for reading,

Patrick
