In Reply to: for Fred Maloan: 111v 112 status, and a CD? posted by soon2Bx5er on October 21, 2000 at 19:28:13:

I ordered a 3.0 black/black loaded. Began thinking about Mahogany instead. Dealer said I was now in a 112 status and no changes allowed - build week 44.

This may or may not be true. Sometimes you can get a change made to a 112 status vehicle being built in Spartanburg but not very often. It is good policy to not try as you will not get the change much more often than you will. Changing to a week 47 X5 makes sense if you really want to make the changes.

he said Ihe could switch me to a 111 build week 47 but advised against it because of resale value with the Mahogany. Questions:
1- Does the coor affect the resale?
2- Thoughts on the black vs. Mahog

I don't see how either color would affect resale value. I have seen both colors on the X5 and personally prefer the Mahogany as I have one black car and they are just too hard to keep clean. In the final analysis you should choose which color you like better. Either choice is a good one as long as you get a sand or light green interior.

3- I ordered an in dash CD but now think I'd like cassette capability. Presumably that means changing the order. a) is it wirth the extra $800 for the in-trunk changer? b) re there alternatives? c) does the 112 status preclude the change?

Thanks

Stay with the in dash CD player. I have cars with both the CD player radio and the CD changer and the CD player radio is much more convenient. I have a lot a cassettes but don't play them anymore as all current music is on CD's. The CD in the trunk is far less convenient than the CD radio as it is so easy to keep a dozen CD's in a case in the glove box and change the one in the radio whenever you want w/o having to stop and switch cartridges if you had the CD changer in the trunk. You can buy a lot a CD's with the money you save on the CD radio.

Hope this helps.
