I really want a silver 3.0, with no sport package, but I hate the black door handles...I asked the sales person if they can put silver door handles on it, and he said yes at a cost of $400...he said they (the dealership) would take the existing handles off and paint them silver...does this sound like a good idea? the alternative is to get a black vehicle, but I am leaning to silver...has anybody else explored this option?


I am looking into the same thing. When my X5 arrives I will then make the decision. I would be concerned how long BMW would stand behind the paint on the door handles. You would think that a vehicle with this price tag BMW would make things all colored keyed for a more finished look.
