I just called my dealer and he spoke to the service manager there. No word yet as to a recall. Can you give some more specifics, any info from the paperwork you got from the dealer when the car was worked on, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

While I was away from home last week, BMW local dealer called and told my wife to bring our new (Sep '00 build) 3.0 X5 in for a recall wrt "something in the steering system". I have checked the Board archives and only found references to an earlier (manufacture dates from Oct '99 to Nov '99) recall concerning the "Steering: Cloumn Coupling".

Is anyone aware of a recent (within the past two weeks) recall affecting 3.0 X5's? The dealer had the car towed in for repair which they said would take approximately two working days. Other than this issue, and the occasional light for the tailgate, the car has been perfect.

TIA for any info.
