I guess it depends on the class. I don't think they're the same class. BMW is a driving machine. The other is a family machine with lots of nice extras.

I did the same (waited for the MDX to show up). I originally drove an X5 4.4i and said no way...too much. I then drove the Lexus RX and decided to wait for the Acura to come out. While it is a very nice vehicle (nicely appointed especially for the cash they are asking) I found it to be "flat." The colors were flat...the drive was flat...the whole vehicle was, well, average. I found the RX to be the same. I drove them and said to myself, "Nice, but..." and when you are paying so much money there should not be any Buts about it.

So I went back and drove the 3.0i and was completely WOW'd! While it's a little more than I wanted to spend it is the only vehicle that really made me want it. The others were ok, but... ;) So, the BMW X5 it is! YEAH!
