Is X5 4.4i really worth the money?(Cmprd to 3.0i) (archive)

Hello everyone...

I am planing to buy X5, and debating between 4.4i and 3.0i. Any suggestions?

Considering the engine performance, is 3.0i well behind the 4.4i ? Especially if I am going up hill with 4 people and lots of luggage and I am trying to pass the slow big truck in front of me and I need "some immediate" power. In this case would the 3.0i be enough for me?

My biggest concern is the engine performance, especially the "Torque".

I think that with sufficent time the 3.0i accelerates very nice but if I need "immediate" and "strong" torque, would the DOUBLE-VANOS engine give me that? Especially above 55 miles?

This vehicle is very heavy. So, what do you think about I-6 on such a heavy vehicle like this?

I drove 330i and 530i and they performed great. But they were much lighter than X5.

I just do not want to waste my money or buy an "over powered" vehicle (like M5). Is 4.4i really worthed the money?

Thank you.

John

:-)
