They hold the cargo net in place when the seats are down. By the way, the cargo net is not any good for a small dog barrier, just big dogs.

Does anyone know what the little plastic compartments are just in front of the rear seat grab handles? I'm talking about the little plastic do-dads that slide open and closed. Just curious.
