when you are in manual mode and lets say driving in 5th gear. you make a complete stop and not touching your gear selector, the transmission is supposed to shift back to 1st. does it ? On some cars it does, but on mine it shifts back to 3rd only, so I have to pull it back to 1st and it bugs me... is my tranny bad or it is the normal behavior ?

If you are in manual mode, you must tell the transmission what gear you want. Isn't that the purpose/function of a manual transmission?
