I've have the factory rubber mats in my X5 for 3 weeks now and have noticed usual heavy wear around the driver side heel area. I know that this is the most commonly worn area of floor mats, but the ones in my ML 320 from MB held up without signs of wear for the 2 yrs I had the car.

Personally, I would go with Weathertech rubber mats. I've had weathertech in some of my other cars and noticed better water channeling also.
