Allright, I have been reading some of the posts on this thread and thought I should chime in. I own an X5 4.4i and love it. I've had it for almost a year however, I gotta admit it lacks in the utility department. So I ordered an MDX and it arrived...3 weeks early. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do. My heart says keep the X5 and buy the MDX but my finances and my wife don't agree. We have 3 kids and need the space and since my other car is an '00 M5 I will be trading in the X5 for the MDX.

Now, I drove an MDX and I guess after driving the X5 (not to mention the M5), the MDX just does not inspire me. I wish BMW had an X7 already with a third row seat. The message is that the each vehicle serves a different purpose and for me at this point the MDX is the right vehicle. The fact that it won Motortrend's SUV of the year helps me deal with getting rid of the X5 - you gotta admit that the MDX is a great value.

All in all, the MDX is a better value. Not just the 10 grand I saved over the X5 with the same equipment. And a better navigation system on the MDX, but also when it comes to resale. Acuras have held their value as well and in some cases better than BMW. If the difference was only 5,000 , I might have gone with the X5. Honda builds a very reliable machine and I feel good about my choice, especially when The MDX is the Sport Ute of the year.
