Hard shifting (archive)

I've had my X5 for 6 weeks now, and I'm losing that new car feeling. My X shifts very hard into 2nd gear, the dealer said they need to keep it for 3 days and drop the pan. I've never purchased a brand new vehicle in which the transmission had to be opened up. Has anyone else had this problem?
