1) I set the temperature somewhere between 72F and 74F (AUTO).
2) When the system detects 72 degrees (or equivalent) it stops blowing heat.
3) At the same time cold air starts blowing as if someone opened a window or something.
4) As soon as the system detects a change of temperature, heat starts coming out again. The problem is that it can take 15 to 20 minutes of agonizing cold air.
5) The only way to get heat in the mean time is to set the system at 90F. All of a sudden AUTO is not what the word suggests.
I tried playing with the top control but it doesn't help.
Why is the system blowing cold air in the middle of the winter is beyond my mind. I mentioned all of the above to my dealer but they claim there is nothing to adjust.
My '99 528 doesn't have this problem. I am at the point that I would rather take the 528 on family trips and leave my $60k plus X5 in the garage. That's unacceptable.
Maybe someone from BMWNA can shed some light about what's adjustable/configurable and what isn't.
