I’ve had similar problems with my 2000 4.4. I’m also totally confused by the climate controls on my Porsche (which I haven’t figure out after five years of trying) and similarly with an old Mercedes I used to own. I think it’s something embedded deep in the German psyche…a tendency to overcomplicate things that should be kept simple.

On a related note, does anyone know how to just set the climate control system to "vent"—so you just have outside air blowing through the cabin? Short of shutting the system down, and just opening the widows…I can’t get it to stop adjusting the air temp up or down.
