I ordered my Mahogany Red with the sand leather interior about 8 weeks ago. I'm taking delivery on 12/10. BMW dealers, not unlike their german cousins, the M-Benz people, order all of their new livery in silver or black because they are the fastest movers. They claim they're the most popular. I have my doubts, because ask anyone who owns a silver or black, it was not their 1st choice but rather they didn't want to wait the 10-12 weeks for delivery. The Mahogany Red is by far the richest color the X5 comes in (IMHO).
