Serge,
I was hoping to pay cash for it but it looks as if I will have to finance around 10 grand. I may put that on a home equity loan unless I can find a rate that makes it attractive enough not to.
I hope I can afford to pay cash for an X5 when I retire. Good for you!!!
My friend posted this question as we sat here and debated the virtues of leasing and purchasing. I still have a hard time seeing why people lease (she is a leasing kinda gal). But...to each their own.

I was brought up by a strict Dad who ingrained the thought into me that I should never buy anything unless I had enough money to pay cash. I've never been able to change that training and have sometimes waited for years before I could afford that particular airplane or that particular boat. Frankly, I'd be afraid to take a loan or finance anything. Just one of my many shortcomings. I hope you find a good and painless way to work out the deal. Good luck,
Serge
