Do you have experience with BMW's leatherette? True, in the old days vinyl seats just fell apart, but materials technology has leapt forward. I would now expect that leather, which is an organic product, would require more maintenance than the leatherette, which being plastic at its heart should last, well, a long time.

I'm particularly interested in your claim that the leatherette will deterioriate in a year! Maybe someone with a different bimmer model with leatherette can say address this.
