I'm also interested in a radar detector in which I can have installed remotely, so that the main unit is not visible. I have seen them in the 7 series and various other cars, but which one set-up is the best and how can I find more information on it? I would assume that the systems use a sensor mounted in th front grill and the rear bumper or underskirt, right?

I have the V1 installed. It sits high on the windshield between the mirror and passenger side sun visor. It is hard wired into a connection in the light switches by the mirror.
The small led readout accessory is wired behind the dash and sits on the left side of the ledge behind the steering wheel and in front of the speedo etc dials. Works really well and the unit by the mirror is blacked out by using the led readout unit.
