I have the K40 undetectable system with the laser diffusor on my '98 Mitsubishi Montero. I do like how there are only LEDs hidden in the dash. However, it does seems to chirp a little excessively. I'm debating whether to go the K40 route on my '99 540i/6 or do the hardwired V1.

Seriously thinking of trading in the Montero and buying an X5 3.0.

For my money, and this is my second detector from these folks, I'd go for a K-40. It all depends what you want. I like the undetectable system which covers front and back, radar and lazer. All you have visible inside the car is a switch and four LED s. Hidden are two piezo speakers, each about an inch in diameter and 1/8 of an inch thick. The thing is totally undetectable by radar detector detectors. Thieves will not see any sign of a radar detector in your car. If you want to know more, I'd suggest the S3000SWL nd you can find it at http://www.k40.com/Son/SonSuprLsrFtrs.html
I've been using their systems for four years, I've tried others and I find K-40 to be the best. A good person to speak with at K-40 is Terry in Customer Service. Good luck,
Serge
