I can get the extended maintainance package(36mo. to 48mo.) for $100 off the cost ie. $450-100=$350. Is it worth it to purchase it? I hear that the brakes and rotors may have to be replaced at this time(roters cannot be turned down since they are already at the minimal acceptable thickness!) which would justify the cost. If the brakes and rotors do not have to be replaced, $350 seems expensive for system inspections. I've always read that extended mainance packages and/or warrantees are not worth the cost, but maybe BMWs are different. I guess that most X5 drivers have not gotten to that milage yet, but other models of BMW are probably representative. My X5(4.4l-non sport) is scheduled to be delivered this month. I'm looking forward to it-it should be a lot of fun to drive.I didn't get it but I probably will. It seems that the II service is the expensive one and it seems to come around 37K. Yes, right after the free program ends, from what I here that one is about $400. With the ext. warranty, you will pick up and additional oil service and maybe some wipers + brakes.
